Guide rails provide safe, perfectly straight power tool guidance; splinterguard for splinter-free sawing. They can be properly positioned even on smooth materials because of the backing layer for gripping; protect the workpiece surface from being damaged; additional groove for use with accessories permits additional applications; and coating for smooth running on the machine.
Making precision cuts with a saw or straight grooves with a router is easier with a Festool guide rail.
